Successful specialist event at Aurubis
SHWire hosted the specialist event "Sustainable copper: climate neutrality versus security of supply?" at partner Aurubis in Hamburg on Tuesday. Customers were invited to discuss key aspects of a sustainable copper supply chain - including the importance of recycling quotas, the availability of secondary material and long-term supply security issues.
Throughout the day, the focus was on open and continuous exchange with experts from Aurubis and the International Copper Association (ICA). Tanja Winter and Scham Lal Chabbra (Aurubis), Dr. Ladji Tikana (ICA), Dr. Cornel Abratis (Aurubis), Jan Oderwald, and Dr. Andreas Levermann (SHWire) contributed different perspectives from production, recycling, and global copper policy and provided valuable input for the discussions with the participants.
From the perspective of Dr. Andreas Levermann, the professional exchange clearly showed: "Sustainability, performance and security of supply must be assessed holistically. This is the only way to make responsible decisions in the long term."
Finally, the participants were given an exclusive two-hour tour of one of the world's most modern copper production and recycling plants. The Hamburg site stands for over 150 years of industrial history and is now one of the technologically leading plants with a clear focus on sustainable metal production.
SHWire would like to thank everyone involved for the professional exchange and good cooperation.
