SHWire invests in Lügde, secures location and becomes a key supplier for electromobility
SHWire plans to build new production facilities in Lügde in the years 2021 to 2024. The medium-sized company is thus creating about 15% additional jobs as well as further production and logistics capacities. In the lower double-digit million range, it is one of the largest investments in the company's history. With the planned capacity expansion, the company is installing the most advanced machine technology available. Also from an environmental point of view, the production location will be one of the most modern production facilities for the technically highly demanding enamelled copper wires in Europe.
After more than four years of development, SHWire has brought forward-looking products for electro-mobility to market maturity and is already supplying them to well-known automotive manufacturers in Europe. The products are used in the main drive motor and form the basic product for electro-mobility.
For the medium-sized company from East Westphalia-Lippe, this is an important development step in order to secure the future of the site as well as 233 jobs in the long term and to supply SHWire customers reliably. "Timely focus on the megatrends of electro-mobility, renewable energy generation and energy distribution was the right and consistent decision", says Ernst-Constantin Hasse, managing partner at the local family business founded in 1858.
Planning phase is already at an advanced stage. Environmental reports relevant to approval processes for new production facilities have been successfully prepared in recent months and are available to the authorities of the town, county and district government.
Amid a difficult transformation process in the automotive supply industry, the company is proud to assume an important position as a reliable and progressive partner for its customers and to make a significant contribution to a sustainable ecological turnaround.
