„Room for unconventional thinking“

Transfer Challenge opens up new perspectives

Schwering & Hasse Elektrodraht GmbH in Lügde develops and produces enamelled copper and aluminium wires at the largest and most modern independent production site in Europe. In order to identify additional optimization potential in production, the company has invited to a Transfer Challenge and has named challenges for which they expect innovative ideas from outside.

Thus, universities and research institutions were able to form teams of experts and along with a company presentation they visited the production facilities on the day of the challenge. On this basis, the teams developed ideas which were then presented, discussed and pre-evaluated in a joint panel.

Dr. Andreas Levermann, Managing Director at Schwering & Hasse, reports: „The Transfer Challenge represents a unique opportunity to achieve synergy effects. We were able to bundle the know-how of different research partners and organized meetings with the experts of our company. This format offers plenty of room for unconventional thinking. In this way, numerous exciting ideas were generated in just one single day. Two of these approaches are now being concretized internally."
